1/2 A Yo-Ho part IV

Hi Tom,
The YO - HO has been sprayed with butyrate dope and has been test glided. It glides very good. The stab is shimmed up to the right with 3/32 balsa. May need more. A smaller fuel tube is installed as seen in the photos. The petunias are some of Joan's many flowers. I am letting the YO -HO dry out on the back deck in the hot sun.
Next step is to fly it!

1/2A Yo-Ho part III

Hi Tom,

I still have to spray the dope on the YO - HO model.
BUT! I got to get the Cox engine running with the backplate. The reed valve does not want to work.
Will have to try replacing the reed valve and replacing different engines.
No rest for no old fart!

1/2A Yo-Ho part II

Hi Guys,
Thought you would like to see the Checkerboard tissue I pasted on with the Avery glue stick. No dope. Used the glue stick on the bare balsa wood, then stuck the tissue on the balsa wood. Been doing that for many years. The checkerboard tissue requires you spray the dope on. Using a foam brush could cause the checkerboard to smear
Took a break to grill some Bucky Burgers on my new Webra Grill. That Black & Decker stand I use to run my engines on. Also holds a bottle of beer nicely.
Plan on pasting checkerboard tissue on the wing and the stab. Plus painting the nose & stab supports red.
More photos to follow.

Tom,

Just wanted to tell you that the Yo Ho was designed by a Skyscraper who died about

3 years ago. My new Tomboy flys great with a new Indian Mills. Fuel economy is getting

better with each run.

YO- HO 1955 1/2 A model

Hi Guys,
The weather is terrible for flying. So the next best thing is to build a model. The YO - HO was designed by A.J. Phillips and plans are in the October 1955 Flying Models.
The model will be a gift for Tom Ryan and his four young friends he takes to the AMA Nats every year.
Of course there will be a lot of checkerboard tissue , which Tom gave me, on the YO - HO.
Covering is about to start. Photos of the completed covered model to follow.

Tommy:

I think that design the fellow is building for you and your boys was designed by Art Phillips of the "Galeville Gang" !! Art passed away a couple of years back but he surely was a "Pisser"
Love to all
