Vic Smeed Popsie part 6

Hi Tom,
Little Fat Sucker with a Fat J-3 Cub Stripe. No matter how nicely I build this model or decorate it, people are going to laugh!
The model is ready for flight. The Tee connector has not arrived, but I can plug the battery to the ESC. I checked the controls this morning and ran the motor a little.
Let me know when you are coming to pick up the model. I will charge the battery so we can make the initial flight at the college.

Vic Smeed Popsie part 5
The Coverite lite weight material that looks like transparent tissue is a bear to work with on sheet wood and on compound curves.
I installed screen door mesh on the last bottom open area to exit the heat from the battery and the ESC and keep out small critters.
This model is so fat it is hard to get a good photograph.

Vic Smeed Popsie part 3

as to how portly this model is:

Hi Guys,
Just had to take photo of This Fat Little Sucker!
The Kit manufacturer can call it The Aesop.
Tom Ryan and Gene Wallock can call it The Popsie.
Bucky Walter calls it
The Fat Little Sucker
The kit did not contain the necessary 3/16 square to complete the construction.
Also the trailing edge piece was a wee bit too short for the wing & the spar material for the wing and stab was a wee bit too short also.
The tail wheel supplied was larger than shown on the plans. The wheels are a lighter substitute from E-Flite.
I was able to correct all the shortages of wood in the kit. Rest of the kit is excellent but these crazy English like to assemble then cover a model!

Vic Smeed Popsie Part 1

Hi Guys,
Tom Ryan's late Xmas gift for Ole Bucky came from England. It arrived on Ground Hog Day! The box had a long crush mark on the cover, but everything was A-OK inside the box. Great packing job with corrugated paper.
As you can see from the photos all the parts are laser cut and a complete set of hardware is included. Tom told me he removed the clunky wheels. He did not like them and he is going to send me a set of wheels he likes. The kit includes three sets of CAD plans with complete instructions.
Also, Tom told me the kit has been renamed the Aesop but is in fact a re-engineered Vic Smeed Popsie.
It will be my next project.
Bucky
