The Paul Plecan Tornado II is almost complete. I have one rotten job to do - make a wind shield!

I have to be in a good mood to tackle that job. I am just about running out of steam on this project.

Tom Thumb

Tommy,

Just flew my new Tom Thumb (5/8 size Tom Boy) and it flies great. It was designed by Vic Smeed and published full size in Aeromodeller in 1957. It was designed for the Albin Bambi
.009 cid. diesel engine. Mine is powered by a Russian repro. which runs better than the
original. Wing span is 22 in. and weight is 2 oz. and it flys just like its big brother, left under
power and right glide. It flew right of the board.

I think your Dad has one of these engines, and if he would like a set of full size plans,
let me know.

Foxacoy Powerhouse part 4

Hi Guys,

Well the scaled down Sal Taibi Powerhouse for the Foxaco Event turned into a Plane Jane.

Tom Ryan said he would bring his spray gun & spray the tips of the flying surfaces with Day Glo Pink.

Tom sent the Sky-scrapers Decals, one of which I used on the wing.

Tom's father, Frank, wanted photos. He is getting photos along with the rest of you guys.

Plan on flying the Powerhouse next Tuesday, August at Shelby, Ohio. Then fly it at the SAM 40 Contest at La Salle, Michigan on August 5.

Nothing like cutting it close. Bob Erpelding suggests that I make the checkout flight at La Salle in the morning. Now that is really cutting it close.

The weather has been terrible for flying this year, so I have been building.

The Speckrum DX5e radio is installed. It is a nice simple 5 channel radio. Also Cheap!

The locater radio is also installed, just in case the old eyes fail or in years passed, Tom McCoy put a hat over my face while flying a R/C 1/2 A Texaco. I lucked out and spotted it. I was flying proxy for the Contest Director, Jack Brown. Also won the event for Jack.

1/2A Yo-Ho part II

Hi Guys,

Thought you would like to see the Checkerboard tissue I pasted on with the Avery glue stick. No dope. Used the glue stick on the bare balsa wood, then stuck the tissue on the balsa wood. Been doing that for many years. The checkerboard tissue requires you spray the dope on. Using a foam brush could cause the checkerboard to smear

Took a break to grill some Bucky Burgers on my new Webra Grill. That Black & Decker stand I use to run my engines on. Also holds a bottle of beer nicely.

Plan on pasting checkerboard tissue on the wing and the stab. Plus painting the nose & stab supports red.

Just wanted to tell you that the Yo Ho was designed by a Skyscraper who died about

3 years ago. My new Tomboy flys great with a new Indian Mills. Fuel economy is getting

better with each run.
