Hi guys,

I have finished a couple of models that are seldom seen but took my interest.

The first is a model from some English company in the late 1940’s called Skyleada and the model is a Bantam.  About 50” and 2 lbs with an MK-17 Russian bb rear intake diesel with an Enya .09 throttle.  It is covered in yellow Micafilm – the newer version which is also from the UK Solarfilm range of coverings. This was a co2 plan in an 80’s Aeromodeller magazine that I enlarged to about the size of the original.

The second is an American updated version of the Simplex by Paul Plecan  called a Super Simplex.  Polyhedral and narrower chord seems to be the main difference to the well- known Simplex.   About the same specs but this one  has a Gordon Burford Deezil with OS .10 throttle with orange Micafilm.

Both are unflown but will be soon – the weather has been breezy to down-right windy for weeks now here in Oz.

Regards,

Allan Laycock

Stardust Special

Vintage Engines of Yesteryear

"From 1973 to the end of publications, John Pond edited the “Plug Sparks" column in Model Builder magazine. Within this column, often there was a tab devoted to the "engine of the month.” They were all American engines with a few exceptions, some of them very famous but many virtually unknown to the majority of aeromodellers. The engine 3-views complete with drilling templates were the work of Allen Pond and in some cases were not a masterwork of precision, but they had that certain handcrafted charm unobtainable in today's precise, but aseptic, CAD drawings. In 1984 Pond decided to collect the various tabs in two binders that he sold through his "John Pond's Plan Service". Frankly, I don't know how many of these volumes have made it to Italy, but today I guess there are not too many around the world. For this reason, having the fortune of owning the complete original collection, I decided to merge it into a single volume and make it available to collectors and enthusiasts." Last days of flying at the sod farm in Illinois

Here are photos of Meaghan née Mike McIntyre and his new Dixielander and Jack's models along with a note from Jack.

I'll keep you posted on flying and Jack's adventure to Jay's for the new, bigger Anderson Pylon

Folks,

A good Fall Day for SAM electric flying today.  Cold morning but it warmed up to 50F quickly.  Blue sky and light winds with thermals early.  Mac, me and a hawk.  I am getting models ready for Eloy in January.  Poole had family stuff so he was not at the field today.

Mac flew his 36 inch wing span Dixielander and it flew well. It's for the SAM Replica R/C E-powered event.  Still in the trimming stage, but a lot of potential.

My 2007 DX7 transmitter crashed two of my models this Summer.  First my big Racer then a Replica FUBAR.  Both strait in with vertical dives.  Anyone want a free DX7 transmitter?

So, a new DX8 G2 transmitter.  Flew my Challenger and Crusader with the new transmitter today.  Also, my E-Tex Airborn the last few weeks.  No problem with the new transmitter.
