Lost Hills, CA

Hi all,
Here are 14 pages of photos taken of the Issaccson contest, PanAm contest and MaxMen contest Feb 10 through Feb 19 at Lost Hills, CA by Malcolm Campbell of Australia. There were 100 foreigners and 80 flyers from USA in FAI alone plus a substantial number of SAM and AMA entries. I'm in pictures 7839, 8058, 8188, 8222, 8226.

Vladimir Sychov's Folder

I just got back from a Fabulous February at Lost Hills, CA. I saw Vladimir Sychov make over a dozen flights with his folder. Pretty impressive, I must say. Only bad thing was that it was a 50-50 chance it would fall on its back and do a half loop after the engine quit. The alternate chance was it would flop bottom down and wings deploy for a perfect transition to glide. See attachments.

He has changed from the dual counter rotating props, gear driven arrangement seen on Volar Libremente, to a single direct drive prop and engine. Still goes straight up with a twist.

1/2A Texaco Foote Westerner

Hi Guys
The 1/2 A Texeco C Westerner ready to cover . Been flying the Funtana
the past year what a blast , I manage to ge it up and down with no damage to the model or my pride.

The landing gear is removable ; the upper portion of the gear is sandwiched with 1/16 plywood sewed to the gear then 1/64 ply on either side, a box built into the fuselage retains the gear . (press fit)

Dave Platt Half Tone 3

I just finished this Half Tone. I've been working full time for the past 3 months, which put a crimp in my building. I modified my Spektrum DX5e so that I plug in a cable
where the 5th channel was and use a push button. The escapement works perfectly and I'm sure it will bring back fond memories when in the air.
